The General Store

by Linda Berry
A building for this location was to be moved from the Lewis Museum. As it was loaded for its move across town, it fell apart. Since a foundation had already been poured it was decided to build a general store to fit. Joe Winter and Bob Gerdes did much refinishing and painting of counters. Dale Lair and Harry Thomas put up the shelves with the help of their "better halves." Dale Lair helped put things up on the walls and rafters. There are many unique items on display such as an old store icebox and a large desk from the Lewis Museum. Many people have donated or loaned smaller items on display. As you enter the store you step back in time about 100 years.
